Busy, Busy, Busy…

Although there isn’t much that I can update you with at the moment, my dears, I wouldn’t want you to think that I’d just been wasting time.  I’ve had several visitors this week – of course you’ll all remember Teddy (or to give her correct Sunday name Theodora) and Harry.  Well Teddy has been away on a course – I think it might have been something to do with new fingerprint techniques.  Whatever it was about, she told me that it was really interesting and she hoped to be practising her new skills very soon.  As long as it isn’t in this residential complex I don’t mind.  We don’t need any more mysteries just at the moment, thank you very much.

Mrs. M has been in for coffee on several occasions over the past couple of weeks.  That’s something I wanted to discuss with you – I’ve realised how smartly she is dressing these days.  I know she isn’t short of money – well, with all of her male friends and visitors, she wouldn’t be, but even so.  I understand she’s been buying new shoes – now don’t talk to me about shoes my dears, my feet are really uncomfortable.  I can’t get any shoes on at all just now, so you can imagine how galling it is when Mrs. M comes in wearing a different new pair nearly every time I see her.

Mrs. M obviously loves her shoes.  Some of them are brightly coloured, and the heels are quite high for a woman of her age.   She has been telling me that they are all “bargains” in the sales.  She has also been buying new make-up and nail polish.

She does buy expensive brands – of course that is up to her, she’s perfectly entitled to spend her money as she wishes.  She was also wearing a rather lovely perfume when she came the other day.  I don’t tend to wear perfume when I’m at home as it doesn’t blend very well with the aroma of washing up liquid and the various handwashing solutions which I’m currently using.

Gordon is much in evidence around the building – strutting around like a peacock.  Well, that’s how it seems to be from my point of view.

I do wonder what he would be like if he were a pretty flamingo!!

Perhaps I shouldn’t go there… ah well.  I wasn’t ever good at doing what I should. I have heard a bit of gossip about him, from Teddy – so it will probably be accurate.  I’m just going to wait for her to confirm it before I tell you.  I wouldn’t like to put anything in writing before I absolutely know it’s the truth.

I also know a bit more about the three men who have now all moved into the building.  Someday I must get a floor plan so I can show you where everyone lives.  It would make life so much easier for everyone.  Now who would one ask for a floor plan?  The original builders, but there have been several additions and extensions that it probably wouldn’t help.  Oh well, I’ll give it some thought over the next few days.  I should be able to write a list showing which floor folk live on – well, the people I actually know.   Perhaps Mrs. M will be able to assist me.

Anyway, my dears, I rather hoped that you’d just like a little chat to update you before we continue with the goings on around here – well, the bits that I am at liberty to divulge.  There are still too many secrets for my liking, but not much I can do about that.  It’s been lovely to speak with you all again.  I was missing you.  As Always –

With Love – Jan xx

I'm retired, disabled and after sudden death of wonderful husband, have moved closer to my son, daughter-in-law and baby, Charlie. I live in sheltered housing at the bottom end of the scale called Independent Living. I had been in an online Knit and Natter group for a couple of years before Ian died and the members of the group were and still are a wonderful support to me. Since moving here I have now got my own little Facebook group where the members are now my friends and extended family. It was suggested that I write a blog - so here we are!!

  1. It must be entertaining and a little puzzling seeing Mrs M appear in fancy shoes and makeup each visit. The perfumes would be too much for me though and I’d have to put my practical-shoed foot down about that.

    1. Lovely to hear from you Carol. Yes, it is slightly disconcerting, and I am sensitive to perfumes. However, she is a lovely woman, and apart from being a little concerned about the large amounts of money she must be spending on her wardrobe, there is very little I can do. The question is – why does she feel that she needs to buy so many new things? Is there something going on that I don’t know about? I will find out in due course, and I will be sure to pass the information on. xx
